US considers use of nuclear weapons against Iran

According to a Sy Hersh report to be published in the April 17 issue of the New Yorker, the administration is considering the use of nuclear weapons against Iran. Hersh has previously broken many major stories about the inner workings and atrocities of this and other administrations like the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo scandals.

Hersh's sources in the military and White House indicate that the administration will pursue the same basic reasoning and strategy in leading up to this new war.

The administration is reputed to claim that regime change in Iran is necessary, and that a sustained bombing will cause the Iranian people to rise up and overthrow their leaders. It seems intent on using nuclear bunker busters to destroy Iranian uranium enrichment and other atomic plants.

A "...former senior intelligence official said the attention given to the nuclear option has created serious misgivings inside the military, and some officers have talked about resigning after an attempt to remove the nuclear option from the evolving war plans in Iran failed, according to the report.

"There are very strong sentiments within the military against brandishing nuclear weapons against other countries," the magazine quotes the Pentagon adviser as saying.

The adviser warned that bombing Iran could provoke "a chain reaction" of attacks on American facilities and citizens throughout the world and might also reignite Hezbollah."

They're angling for armageddon

and will use any justification for setting such a chain reaction into motion. After all, they'll be in a bunker in a mountain in Colorado. Still, I have a distinct feeling that history will move us in other directions they are not considering. Other countries have their ways, and I'm sure there's already discussion among our allies about how and when to deal with a mad dog.

Let's not forget

Hi everyone, hella troi here, (couldn't find the log-in link).

Let's not forget that Valerie Plame was working on Iran's nuclear program.

This makes one wonder if the real aim was in her outing was to stop her from gathering the truth about their program, and not to discredit Wilson.

More Bush Chaotic Radicalism

and Sophie Scholl. This is chaotic radicalism. Rummyworld seeking to make nuclear mischief in Iran could only be justified by certifiably crazy people. Still, I don't think anything's happening this year. People would demand Congress do something about escalating death, destruction and indebtedness, and there's no doubt in an election year it would be an unpopular thang. They want the troops coming home, not staying longer. Next year's another story, due to a longer election timeline.

Lets hope

Other countries will step in and help keep this from getting outa hand. I really hope your right Robert.

Hella I think your right on this matter about the Valarie Plame game. You see Bush can't afford to lose anything, including his money and all his so called friends. I mean what would people think if it hit the news that he really did do this? Well now he was just made a Liar according to Scooter Libby. I need all the laughs I can get.
