U.S. fights detainee access to attorney
This just reeks of a secret state and secret police. I have no great sympathy for terrorists, suspected or otherwise, but I do have great respect for our system of justice. Even Saddam has access to an attorney.
Our government is fearful that if these detainees get lawyers, the word on BushCo-approved torture methods will get out. Do we now live in a country where you can be disappeared, denied access to a lawyer, and tried without being presented with the evidence (it's classified, you know) against you? If this is not Gestapo tactics, I don't know what is. Shall we sacrifice everything that we are in the name of 9/11? If so, then the terrorists have truly won.

Well at least the story
is getting coverage. I saw this headline on the front of MSNBC this morning:
"WP: U.S. seeks to silence detainees"
With the news cycles finally avalanching against the GOP it may get a lot easier to save ourselves from immediate destruction. Or so we hope.
