Newest update on the situation in Guatemala from Moonflower Enterprises
Several artisan families that produce bead jewelry for Moonflower Enterprises, under the supervision of Dolores Mendoza, in Santiago Atitlan lost their homes and entire belongings. They are currently living in a shelter, although food and water are becoming scarce. They urgently need immediate emergency assistance and later on will require emergency response for the clean-up and re-building phase
Moonflower Enterprises, a Spokane based member of the Fair Trade Federation, will be organizing a fair trade trunk show at our home on October 29 and 30, 2005 to raise money for victims of hurricane Stan in Guatemala. Profits from the sale of fair trade products will be sent to Guatemala to support hurricane victims. A special altar will be prepared to honor all victims of the hurricane, coinciding with “el Dia de los Muertos" on November 1. In addition, all profits from online sales generated on our website Moonflower Enterprises from today through November 1 will also be pooled together to send to Guatemala.
We are also making an emergency request for donations to provide food, water, shelter, and medical supplies for hurricane victims in the Sololá province of Guatemala. All donors will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Please make your online donation at Moonflower Enterprises or make a check payable to Moonflower Enterprises (write "Hurricane Stan Emergency Fund" on memo-line) and mail to:
