Caleb. Try reading next time. You make the assertion that there is no connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda. Powell makes no such assertion. He states that there is no credible connection between Saddam and 9-11. Al Qaeda's influence existed before 9-11 and after 9-11. That Saddam did not directly contribute to Al Qaeda's efforts on 9-11 does not mean he had no connection to them. Think, man.

I personally gathered these pictures during the first weeks of bombing back in 2003 from Al Jazeera and a website forum that I can't even remember the name of now. Does this mean that you're denying that real babies, children, and women are dying over there???

I simply wonder what happened to humanity's conscience that such atrocities still continue. What Saddam did to his own in no way excuses what we've done to the guilty or the innocent.

Blood lust justified by people's rationalizing mentality may be the biggest problem here. There are ways to take terrorists out without bombing children. That they victimize their own is condemned by Muslim clerics everywhere. We must stop demonizing Islam if we want them to stop demonizing Christianity. No sane person disrespects another's God. Beliefs may differ, but when children die, all of life weeps bloody tears. And no one who is a parent could justify any child's death, regardless of who or how or whatever. Especially not something as stupid as politics or ideology.

Remember - violence is a generic human virus, is pandemic in every religion, and cannot be solved by more violence. Gandhi proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. And 9-11 was a criminal conspiracy not connected IN ANY WAY with Saddam. We have no business killing Iraqi children.

We need to change the words of "God Bless America" to "God Forgive America. These images are only rare in U.S. media. Unsuprisingly, America's credibility is damaged nearly beyond repair. Unknown news quip "The Irish now despise U.S. policy more than England's." Keep up the good work friend.

Of course there were connections between Hussein and Al Qaeda, just the US press corpse seems to have forgotten what they were. The connections were 1) Binladdin declared jihad against the secular Baath government when they threw out the slave-owning Kuwaiti monarchy, 2) Al Qaeda twice tried to assasinate Hussein, and 3) there was an Al Qaeda-affiliated group in Iraq before the invasion, an anti-Baathist group based in the Kurdish-controlled north.

There actually ARE links between Al Quaeda and Israel, though. I don't expect that we'll be invading them any time soon, though.

Seeing as how Saddam was SECULAR and enforced his secular state militantly - I find it hard to believe that anyone can make the argument that by removing that secular force and leaving in it's wake a vacuum for religous fanatics to fill could possibly be a "good thing" or an improvement. Those that keep equating Iraq with 911 are lost in right-wing delusions.

Hmm. I guess it speaks to the level of which my faith in others, specifically other Americans, has fallen that I'm shocked neither by these photos or the conduct of the racist fanatics trolling the comments here.

Of course we killed innocent people. If you posted all the pictures of innocent people the American government is responsible for killing you'd need infinite bandwidth. From Asia to Africa to South America, the United States has had a hand, often indirectly but very often directly, in the deaths of alot of innocent people who committed the crime of being born in a particular place.

And of course people are going to have knee-jerk, self-centered, hateful racist reactions. Historically, it's what people do best. It no longer surprises me to hear people lump together all Arabs, even all Muslims into one 'enemy.' Lord knows, Bush's heavy-handed (a euphemism, I know) policies have allowed al-Qaida to do the same to us. In fact, Bush has united different groups who used to hate eachother. Now they all just hate us.

So what if we did post pictures of the innocent people mamed and killed on 9/11 right next to these pictures? Would that make us all feel better? If we see the faces of 3000 murdered people, do we feel vendicated when we see the faces of 3000 more? It doesn't make me feel better, and I don't think it makes the sheep like H-town, SparseMatrix, cindy, Jayce, and Christian feel better either.

Do you people believe anything you're not told to believe? Anything your brave christian president tells you must be true; We were attacked because they hate our freedom. At what point did Osama turn from loving US tax money from the CIA to hating American "freedom"?

How would we feel if we had to watch Chinese tanks roll down our city streets, and hear their jets and helicopters roaring over head? How acceptable would it be to Americans for Chinese troops positioned in Mexico or Canada? It's not acceptable for us, and it's not acceptable for Arabs either.

A foreign army could invade the US to liberate us from our evil murdering leader. I awoke to the TV showing the aftermath of a most barbaric attack in Iraq today.

Searchers dug the bodies of 2 young children out from under the rubble of a bombed out building. The youngest was grabbed by the seat of his pants, emerging like a newly hatched bird from beneath the loose materials entombing his lifeless body.

I was more than a bit shocked that such images would be shown, early morning, CNN.....not exactly what breakfast time viewers would expect to see. I remember thinking that I hoped GW Bush had his own TV on when he awoke to face his HARD WORK of the day.

It puzzled me......... the showing of the results of an attack so misplaced that mere babies died? It would help those who support the Iraqi War to see how senseless this entire campaign is, how pitifully useless and horrific. Surely it would reflect unfavorably on our own US troops to be responsible for such carnage. What brave soul allowed the release of the footage? Surely NOT anyone in the Bush Administration they have scrubbed and screened such reportage for months. As the account went on it dawned on me. The attack was carried out NOT by us but by the first company of Iraqi troops we had trained for the job. Perfectly A OK for us to see THEIR handiwork, OK for them to storm their own Holy mosques and kill their own woman and children. Roll those cameras, boys!!

We took the worlds best and most powerful military in, against a country the size of UTAH, a country who has NO Navy, Not one Fighter jet or airplane to it's name. A country that had been sanctioned for so long there was no medical system, precious little food and already had its infrastructure destroyed from OUR earlier foray into its borders.

We went in all rapid and ready and got our butts handed to us, way to go 'W'!

Then he had to apologize to the UK because the truth was that from the 50 most primary sites according to eyewitnesses, we have only recovered 5000 remains. That's 5000 remains, from over 50 sites.

If until now you thought our leaders knew something that we didn't, you might want to reconsider. Rationalize it anyway you want, but please do not fall into misinformation and just following your leaders. Remember, they are human, just like we are, and they are driven by false judgment just as we can be. Best case, they were mistaken. The worst case is more likely, however. As a citizen living in California, I saw no evidence linking Saddam's regime with Al-Qaeda, I can imagine that in the White House, this lack of "strong hard evidence" was even more stark.

Please, seek reason and temperateness. We do not need more fascists in the world right now. We need people who genuinely care for each other. Please be kind and do not seek out justification for the killing of innocents.

This whole "know your enemy" BS is driving me nuts. It struck me during the debate that Bush and those that support the war in Iraq see ALL Muslims as "our enemy." We cannot possibly hold a whole race responsible for the acts of the militants/insurgents/terrorists. Bush sees attacking Iraq in response to 9/11 as justified because they're all Muslim. I started to read the comments and saw quickly that the harsh reality of our inexplicable need to shift blame is apparent in almost everyone's arguments. I do agree that politicians have caused this to happen directly however where is our responsibility in this? As citizens of this planet are we not responsible to recognize the faults of our chosen leaders and remove them, and hold them responsible for their actions? What is it going to take (and I'm really asking for an answer on this) for the little people to shift the course of the global community. We sit by while all of this goes on and we have the luxury to comment on the atrocities that we see however we do nothing but comment. We outnumber the men in power, yet we relinquish everything to them then bitch about it. How many of you even vote? Rather than talking about the horrors in Iraq versus the horrors of the world trade center versus the horrors anywhere else in the world, why not come up with a plan? We're all responsible! Anyone in America who doesn't vote George Bushes administration out is responsible. Don't kid yourselves, it is very much his administration that is the real architect at work here. And for all of the fake patriots hiding their sociopathology behind cries of "9-11," I happen to live in NYC, and remember vividly trying to locate my family, some of whom were literally in the next building over from the WTC. Guess what? New Yorkers voted 5:1 that President Bush has made us less safe and that his Iraqi war is illegitimate. DC: voted 9:1. Pennsylvania: 5:4.
