HOLY CANOLI !!
Dems win House, Senate still up for grabs
Americans delivered a stunning rebuke to President Bush and the Republican leadership in Congress, sweeping Democrats into power in the House for the first time in a dozen years and dismantling most if not all of the GOP Senate majority.
Now What?
You're right that recounts and court cases
might change things, but for the first time in several years I feel like it won't just be dirty tricks that would change it. The democrats and their special interest groups probably have 9,999 lawyers in those states right now, plus there's the foreknowledge that private citizens like myself would probably take a pitchfork to anyone who tried to openly subvert the outcome. (enough is enough, right!)
My vote for best pix of the day...
Waaaaah

Flying by the seat of my rants...
Let us hope
the expression stays that way. Possibly mixed with some public temper tantrums, and some A E Neuman faces.
That's probably a safe bet.
He's a man mostly alone from here on out. At least if things get rough.
Am starting to be more concerned about whatever NEW wingnut manifestation they'll come up rather than their old ones. That, and the fact that the Dems still think the best way to compete with Republicans is to out-national-security them. If anything continues to wreck this nation, put it at risk, and ruin dem chances for 2008 it will be that they don't move far enough toward a unique enough approach on Iraq (e.g., getting out).
Why vote for Repulican-lite when you can get the real thing, after all.
I have a feeling that if we're still talking about Iraq in 2008 (and it looks like we will) that we're going to either end up with a republican president or else a Democratic one that ISN'T a hawk. The dems already tried their war hero, I-voted-for-it-before-I-voted-against-it candidate. Time for something else!
Some encouragement
for me because for the longest it didn't seem like most people were going to get out of the dark hole that BushCo had dug for them. I wondered how people could fall for the lies, the distortions, the manipulation. It's encouraging that people snapped out of it and that BushCo's insanity finally took a reality hit.
I think (hope) we'll see a significant draw down of troops next year. Americans don't want us there and Iraqis don't want us there. It seems it's only Bush, Laura and Barney who want us there.
The Dems say they have a plan to eventually get the troops back home and concentrate on some domestic issues like health care, minimum wage and immigration. I've already written my Senator to ask if they plan to do anything about legislation that's already passed like the Torture Bill and the Domestic Wiretapping Bill. I got a polite note back telling me the Senator was in recess but someone will respond to my inquiry as soon as possible.
Couldn't resist this...
WHO'S THE DECIDER NOW!

Senate Looks Won
It seems that both the Montana and Virginia Senate races have gone blue by slim margins. Recounts and court cases may reverse these results, but the election count appears to leave Tester and Webb as the winners as of today.
