"Delete my fucking account Kos"

I'll get tired of beating this rug when that site isn't the highest trafficed 'left-leaning' political blog anymore. In the meantime I'll document...

...and someone sticks this one on the recommended list, no-less. =)

"I want out of this farce of a website. I thought this was on open forum for progressives to discuss their views. Instead, it is little more than the internet wing of the Democratic propoganda machine. Now that I want out, a fair minded and liberal website would let me delete my account and go. Instead, DailyKos will give me no such option. Like some sort of cult, I was welcomed in freely but am now being barred from leaving. I do not want to simply leave and let my info remain here at a website I am disgusted by and want no further part in. Since Kos won't allow me the decent option of deleting my account (just about every blog DOES let you delete your account when you want to), then somebody here needs to delete my account for me. To deny me deletion of my own account is unacceptable.

Kossacks Purge

I thought this was sickening proof of how cannibalistic DK has become. Markos' thought police reamed this person because she dared infer that the +/- comment ratings weren't a big deal.

but they are to the troll-police at DK, who spend every waking hour apparently trying to suss out their hyper-paranoid fantasies of republicans lurking in the corners...

markos represents the worst of the political web and his smug fascistic site will sadly be held up as an example of the worst infantilism of the left.

They've got a year left...

...of having a "good name" in ANY 'circles'. Right now there's a lot of hangers-on involving themselves with the place because people just are wondering if it's some kind of "ground-zero" for popularity and/or politics (more of the former than the latter, I'm afraid).

The only trajectory(ies) I can see for our nation and politics in general will leave no question that it's not ground-zero over there. Just zero.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier bloggers (by traffic) won't see it a some kind of 'must belong to' place anymore when its gotten their causes and reputations nowhere for a couple years.

But just remember - it's cool to be a lemming even when you're going over the cliff, because you're still part of the in-crowd.

by the way, i was ultimately

by the way, i was ultimately banned for defending this poster. i was exactly one of two people out of the 500 hundred DK trolls who came out to recommend the diary and dance in cyber-circles around poor errinf like a scene from Lord of the Flies.

Make no mistake, DK is about to implode, Lieberman defeat or not. You can't claim to be a Democrat and cry out for online freedom while creating some truly dysfunctional kossack army of hateful syncophants.

my guess is most of them are under 25. if voting age.

or to use kossack troll-hunting logic, perhaps DK is a creation of...Mr. Rove?

There's not really a "they"

...just a small bunch of fangirls/boys who like to do the whole Lord of the Flies thing you mentioned. Really only fifty or less users there are allowed, and I do mean allowed, to set the course for anything - and to be one of those folks you have to pass a test. The I'll-play-ball-test. So it's really a situation whereby fifty rabid dogs and their like-minded host have created the appearance of something much larger than it is, and they systematically kill off any dissenters so that the rest of sheeple there think everyone's on board.

Most of the people linking to them and most of the traffic they get has NO IDEA about what goes on in the backrooms of the place, or how often, purposefully, and methodically free speech is 86'd. The dissenting comments aren't even allowed to stay on the page, right. (I can hear them now - if there isn't any evidence how could a crime have been committed???)

And the ones who do know, feel like they can't survive without being part of it all, and just go along to fit in. I think many of what I call, second-tier lefty blogs, fit into this category.

The results of their 'netroots' movement will have to catch up with them before anything can change. And given that they've got the most fertile ground Democrats have seen in, well maybe ever, to claim some seats it's probably optomistic to think that a year from now people will have caught on to the fact that it's all just smoke in mirrors. I'm trying to be optimistic, but whether it takes 1 year or 3 we'll all have to endure "them winning" (the winning of course will be because of them, and not because the republicans have, you know, governed the country into a blackhole for six years) and the resulting fawning about how they've changed the world and howeverybodyisjustjealousandjusthatesus, blah, blah, blah.

A couple of months ago, I predicted

in a comment thread on another blog that FDL would crash and burn. We saw an early symptom of it this week...

...so what do you guys think? Who's going first? FDL or DK? They're very similar in expecting their clans to toe the line, and in getting rid of any dissident opinions. Zap! and they're gone.

That's a hard one...

...considering how totalitarian both sites are, and considering that they're so joined at the hip. I was turned off from the place, when I first saw what a fangirl Jane was of Kos.

They may reach their zenith at the same time...

Kos Demands Fealty

i am beginning to think that DK might be the most brilliant rove plot ever. the diaries of uber alles democratic demands made by posters named "hyperbolic pants explosion" make me fear for the party if these are the new wave of blog nerds who want control.

but if you recall kos' ridiculous attack on protest marches -- just because it might force him to move his ass from the computer -- you can see how delusions ripen in his infertile mind.

but you're right, only about 50 people dictate or diary anymore and the comment threads are almost embarrassing in their circle-jerking. if you've read jane hamsher's fascinating -- and career killing i believe -- book on the making of "natural born killers" you'll get a better sense of the self-entitled smug righteousness that envelopes her better qualities and makes her a perfect disciple of the kos.

i have no doubt that if kos and his kossacks had any political, they would place undesirables in education camps.

Having encountered this personally...

...I'd have to say you are all on the money about DailyKos. Having learned how to circumvent their censoring system in recent weeks, I have also witnessed how heavily the site is dependent upon control of content there. I have also noticed that the site inflates it's popularity... the real number of people into DailyKos is about the same for most blogs out there. DKos is not that remarkable... it just is ran by a guy that is constantly hyping up it's remarkability.
For what it's worth, the tech at DailyKos.com has figured out a way to delete my account there and is waiting for his boss to get back from vacation so that he can get approval to do so.

Well, ErrinF

Wouldn't trade places with you and go through what you must have went through the last few weeks, but I and many others have been there, too over the last few years. (put a shingle out at MLW and ask how many of them have been banned or trolled - quite a few, last time I checked)

Would be nice if all the disaffected folks like ourselves could be a little better/faster at wrangling themselves into some kind of new effectiveness though. Yeah, I know. It's just a matter of timing - someone, somewhere is going to put together something that can pull some real traffic and isn't a part of the good ole boy network.

...so all of us cat herders are laying the groundwork for it I guess.

I'm shocked! ... shocked!

Although I haven't personally been banned at DKos (because I was too much of a chicken to put more than a toe in the waters there-- ouch!). However, I am suspect at FDL. Although I'm not really banned there, all of my comments are subject to moderation.

So much for contributing to a conversation. By the time I've been cleared, everyone's moved onto the next thread...

Not long ago, one of the regulars actually asked the lurkers to delurk themselves in order to have a better brainstorming session. Hah!
