Columnist to pay $34,000 in deal with government

Right-wing columnist Armstrong Williams was ordered to repay $34,000 of the 240,00 his firm received from the Dept. of Education to promote Bush's "No Child Left Behind" program.

Excerpt from the news story follows:

Lawmakers criticized the contracts as an improper use of taxpayer dollars. Congressional auditors concluded the department engaged in illegal "covert propaganda" by hiring Williams without requiring him to disclose he was paid.

Now, if they could just indict Halliburton...

What a bargain

Is a soul worth $34,000?

I mean, as things go that's pretty dawg gone cheap, right. Being a step n' fetch it darlin' of the right wing for only a slap on the wrist of $34 grand...what self un-respecting putz would pass that up.
